Capital One CD Rates

Capital One has gained a lot of visibility in the last few years with their witty commercials. Best CD Rates Info decided to see how Capital One CD rates compare with the other certificates of deposit that we have reviewed.

We were not disappointed with what we found. In fact, we were so impressed with many of the CaptialOne Bank CD rates that the biggest challenge was to decide which CDs to feature in our review. We decided to break the CDs into two categories: Standard CDs and Jumbo CDs.

Standard CDs: We were favorably impressed with many of the standard CDs available in our area, so we selected several to highlight:

  • 1 year CD: The one year Capital One CD returns an Annual Percentage Yield of 3.25 percent. That’s a pretty interesting rate for just a 1 year CD. This CD requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.
  • 2 year CD: The two year Capital One CD returns an Annual Percentage Yield of 4.00 percent. Again, this is a pretty attractive rate for a fairly short-term CD. This CD also requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.
  • 4 year CD: The four year Capital One CD returns an Annual Percentage Yield of 4.50 percent. These days, any CD over 4 percent is worth noting. Again, this CD requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.
  • 5 year CD: The five year Capital One CD returns an Annual Percentage Yield of 4.75 percent. At this rate, it is one of the highest rates that we’ve seen for a non-jumbo CD. Yet again, this CD requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.
  • 7 and 10 year CDs: Both the seven and ten year Capital One CDs return an Annual Percentage Yield of 5.00 percent. What can we say, a 5 percent CD is pretty rare these days! These CDs also require a $5,000 minimum deposit.

Jumbo CDs: The Capital One Jumbo CDs all had pretty interesting rates. Particularly noteworthy, though, was the 5 year Capital One jumbo CD. The CD interest rate for this offering generates a 5.00 percent Annual Percentage Yield. Each Capital One jumbo certificate of deposit requires a minimum deposit of $100,000.

So, while there may not be as many commercials for Capital One CD rates as there are for other CapitalOne products, their CD rates are definitely worth checking out. Please be sure to check their web site to confirm the current rates and terms in your area, as these items can change over time and vary by region.
